About Christer Aikens

His practice is heavily influenced by ancient mythologies and techniques. His sculptures tend to focus on issues of personal identity and are realized in metal, stone, and other mixed media. Christer is also influenced by the natural world and human effect on it which is portrayed in his photographic practice.  He grew up in Michigan and went to school at Cranbrook Kingswood Schools, where the classical sculpture and architecture heavily inspired his interest in art. He received a Bachelors degree in Fine art and in Art History from Hobart College in Geneva NY. He Currently lives and Practices in Detroit Mi.
